Course content
- Standardization, metrology, testing. - Measurement of basic physical properties (dimensions, temperature, density). - Rheological properties of solutions and polymer melts, curing of thermosets. - Plasticity and vulcanization of rubber compounds. - General analytical procedures of evaluation of polymer and polymer additives properties (identification of polymers, characteristic elements, water content, dry matter, ash content, solvent extraction). - Thermal analysis (TGA, DSC, DTA, TMA, DMA). - Separation methods (liquid and gas chromatography, gel permeation chromatography). - Preparation of test specimen, conditioning procedures. - Short-term static behavior (tensile, compression, flexure, shear, hardness). - Long-term static behavior (creep, stress relaxation). - Thermal properties (specific heat, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, linear and volume expansion, resistance to low and high temperature, flammability). - Dynamic tests (rebound resilience, impact and notched impact strength). - Electric and dielectric properties of polymers, wear testing. - Weathering.
