Course content

1. Seminar: Introduction; materials, tools, instruments; laboratory procedure, operation; weighing, yield; laboratory records; tables. 2. Laboratory: Word safety, first aid; materials, tools, instruments; work with glass, assembling of the apparatus, laboratory instructions. 3. Seminar: Matter, weight, maintenance laws, volume and density. 4. Laboratory: Density determination, densimeter, flotation, pycnometer; sedimentation and decantation; raw material processing; plastics, polymers. 5. Seminar: Yield, theoretical yield, reaction range. Purity, contaminants. 6. Laboratory: Weighing; ceramics; heating, baths, flame, furnace; annealing, pigments preparation, lime burning. 7. Seminar: Solutions, concentration, dilution and mixing, calculations. 8. Laboratory: Work with liquids, common solvents, volume measuring, dosing, solutions preparation, purification, separation of the solutions components, filtration, precipitation, melting temperature, sublimation. 9. Seminar: Heterogeneous reactions, gases in the laboratories. 10. Laboratory: Work with gases, protective atmosphere, gases sources. 11. Seminar: Heat, heating and cooling; phase change, degrees of freedom, boiling point, evaporation, distillation. 12. Laboratory: Steam distillation, extraction, phases separation, refractive index. 13. Seminar: The history of the field. 14. Laboratory: Submissions, possibility of the substitution.
