Course content
Bioactive compounds - characterization of natural substances with significant biological effects. Sources of bioactive compounds. Sustainability in biotechnological production of bioactive compounds. Biotechnological production of vitamins - characterization, production organisms, technological processes. Biotechnological production of amino acids and biologically active peptides I. Biotechnological production of amino acids and biologically active peptides II. Microbial production of polysaccharides with significant biological effects. Microbial production of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Microbial production of enzymes and their applications. Biotechnological production of antibiotics. Biosynthesis add industrial production of steroids. Cytostatics and cancerostatics. Other important bioactive compounds in pharmacy and their production. Ethics and safety in working with biological substances.
