Course content
1. Introductory lesson: Laboratory work safety training, weighing, pipetting, measuring with UV / VIS spectrophotometer, buffer preparation. 2. Carbohydrates: The chemical properties of carbohydrates, monosaccharides group reactions, identification of the unknown sample, hydrolysis of polysaccharide. 3. Amino acids, proteins: Reactions of amino acid side chains, the identification of the unknown sample, the denaturation of proteins. 4. Afinity chromatography. 5. Enzymes, enzyme activity: Monitoring and quantification amylase activity of human saliva, proof of peroxidase activity in milk. 6. Purification of an enzyme: Two-step purification of phenoloxidases from fruiting bodies of mushrooms, acetone fractionation, ion exchange chromatography, activity detection. 7. Lipids: Isolation of phospholipids from egg yolk; evidence reactions (cholesterol, choline, phosphoric acid); emulsifying ability of phosphatides.
