Course content
Content 1. Raw materials. 2. Technical materials. 3. Energy production. 4. Power units. 5. Technologies in construction, ceramics and textile production. 6. Processing technologies metals, plastic and woods. 7. Characteristics of goods and merchandise. 8. The quality of goods. 9. Rating of utility characteristics of goods. 10. The importance of harmonized standards. 11. The protection of utility values in the sphere of circulation. 12. Increasing the utility value of goods and innovation process. 13. Summary of basic knowledge from the subject of production technologies.

Learning outcomes
This course consists of two separate parts, the basis of the production technologies and doctrines of goods which are recited as separate subjects for undergraduate students Production and Quality Management, specialized in preparing students for master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Information Systems. Basics of manufacturing technologies is dedicated to the first 7 weeks of instruction. Teaching in this field is the first 4 weeks focused on basic technologies necessary for all kinds of productions and on: - Raw material extraction and processing technical materials - Energy production - Information on the drive units of machinery. These chapters are then followed the next chapter, which focused on the most basic kinds of production, ie. industrial production, cutting and non-cutting metal, wood and plastic etc. Another part of the course relates to the field of science of goods, which serves students with general information about the product in terms of its characteristics, value, quality and its individual and societal usefulness. Furthermore, this section deals with the examination and testing of goods, protection of the utility values of goods legislation related to the issue of goods, especially in relation to security products for consumers and society. The aim of this course is to provide students with a somewhat more concise form the most complete information about both the production technology, as well as the doctrine of goods so that students gain both of these fields clear and comprehensive overview.
Acquired skills Students get a very good overview of the basic know-how, forming the foundations of our industrial society. Students will acquire the ability to apply this knowledge in all related courses that are dealing with the issues of monitoring, organizing and managing all aspects of the organizations engaged in manufacturing activities. Upon successful completion of this course, our graduates finding jobs in manufacturing organizations will gain an insight into technical practice, which is the basis of activity and the reason for the existence of any such organization. The student can interpret the importance of general and special commodity science, product quality, product reviews, product innovation, protection and storage, testing and product testing. Student focuses on selected - the most common commodities, is eligible for executting of essential analytical and physical-mechanical tests.
Basic knowledge of natural laws of physics and chemistry to the extent necessary to understand the nature and basic principles used in manufacturing the most discussed technologies which are then FaME as graduates encounter in everyday life. Basic knowledge and skills in general commodity science and selected chapters in special commodity science.

Student requirements Way of course termination - Examination Students are required to elaborate a term paper/an essay dealing with PRODUCT MANAGEMENT (production or merchandise technology) for a selected product in the range of 8 to 12 pages and submit the above paper by the end of the week preceding credit week. Furthermore, students shall obtain a credit and successfully pass a written and follow-up oral examination. Active (min. 85%) attendance and participation in the seminars. Active preparation for discussions on a given question. The written preparation, presentation, and submission (by the end of the week before the Course Credit Week) of a Term Paper (essay) on the manufacturing/production technologies of a selected product; extent: 8 - 12 A4 pages. Passing the Final Exam. Mastery of the individual resolution of given model situations. The individual elaboration of a given model project. Mastery of the In-term Tests (min. 60%)and subsequent Oral Examination. Submitting of records from the theory of goods.The result of a subject examination is expressed on a six-point scale: A "výborně" (i.e. "excellent"), B "velmi dobře" (i.e. "very good"), C "dobře" (i.e. "good"), D "uspokojivě" (i.e. "satisfactory"), E "dostatečně" (i.e. "sufficient"), F "nedostatečně" (i.e. "fail").
