Course content
Content: 1. Basic machining terminology. Theoretical fundamentals of machining. 2. Physical basis of cutting process - chip formation, surface formation. 3. Tool materials - steel, cemented carbides, ceramics, diamond, etc. 4. Force analysis, heat, residual stress and other accompanying effects of the cutting process. 5. Basics of turning - external and internal surfaces. 6. Basics of milling - plane milling, corner milling, grooving, copying, special. 7. Drilling, boring, roughing, reaming. 8. Finishing methods of machining, selected unconventional machining methods. 9. Machine tools series and mass production, CNC machining. 10. Machining economics, productivity and machining efficiency. 11. Selected methods of production of gears. Rapid Prototyping. 12. Special machining methods - HSM / HSC / HFM. 13. Theoretical fundamentals of technological and assembly process control, TPV.

Understanding of the physical processes on which the operation of individual technological equipment and technological processes is based is a basic prerequisite for successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. Basic knowledge and principles used in the most important production technologies that FaME graduates will encounter in practical life.

A properly completed course will enable graduates who find employment in production organizations a comprehensive view of technical practice, which is the basis of activity and the reason for the existence of each such organization.
