Course content
Taught topics: 1. Introduction to the study of the subject, conceptual apparatus, basic theoretical approaches to the study of security, security policy, the security system of the state and its components. 2. The geopolitical position of the Czech Republic and current security threats to the Czech Republic, the involvement of the Czech Republic in international organizations in the field of security. 3. The United Nations, its history and importance in ensuring global security. 4. The North Atlantic Alliance and the importance of collective defense, civil emergency planning within the North Atlantic Alliance. 5. The European Union and its security and defense policy. 6. The security system of the Czech Republic, the importance of administrative authorities and self-governing bodies in ensuring the internal security and defense of the state. 7. The system of ensuring the defense of the state, the importance, position and management of the armed forces in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 8. Ways of involving citizens in the defense of the state and the performance of military service in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 9. The system of ensuring the internal security of the state, the importance, position and management of security forces in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 10. The importance of non-governmental non-profit organizations in ensuring internal security and defense of the state in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 11. Crisis management in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 12. Population protection system in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries. 13. Education and training of the population to defend the state and to be prepared to deal with emergencies and crisis situations in the Czech Republic and in selected other countries.
