Course content
1. Introduction to mass communication and mass media. 2. Art as a tool of mass media. 3. Media literacy 1: the power of visual images. 4. Media literacy 2: fake news and news framing. 5. Books and the power of print; newspapers, journalism, and art. 6. The influence of photography on art. 7. The music industry: music as art versus music as business. 8. Art in radio broadcasting. 9. Art and television. 10. Film: art versus commerce in the film industry. 11. Media convergence: the internet and new (digital) media. 12. Digital culture, e-culture, the creative industry, and art at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. 13. Contemporary art and new (digital) media.
