Course content
Scientific research in pedagogy, categories, types and phases of the pedagogical research. Hypotheses in the pedagogical research. The current state of the pedagogical research in the world and in the Czech Republic. Measurement in the pedagogical research, its types and basic properties. Validity and reliability of measurement. The methods of a statistical description of the research data. Characteristics of variability. Graphical methods of data displaying. Methods of survey analysis (exploratory data analysis). Selection of the research sample, the sample size estimates. Data collection methods in pedagogical research. Questionnaires. Techniques of standardized observation. Scales in the pedagogical research. Tests. Projection measurement techniques. Content analysis. The semantic differential. Sociometry. Q-methodology. Meta-analysis in the pedagogical research. Standard parametric and non-parametric tests of significance (test for nominal, ordinal and metric data). Determining the closeness of relationships among variables. Correlation and regression analysis (correlation coefficients, regression, contingency). Factor analysis. Cluster analysis. Analysis of variance (single-factor, multi-factorial). Computer programs for a statistical analysis of research data.
