Course content

- Definition of the concept of motivation (the function of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, explicit and implicit motives, general characteristics of the motivation process). - Motivation and regulation of mental activity. - Development of motivation systems. - Selected approaches and theories of motivation (psychoanalysis, humanistic psychology, cognitive psychology, a theory of free regulation of behaviour). - Phenomena of human behaviour and their relation to motivation (basic physiological and biological motives, aggression, fear and anxiety, curiosity and exploration, social behaviour). - Motivation in the school environment, the specifics of motivation and motivation at different levels of schools. - Arousing cognitive and performance motivation in the pedagogical process. - Performance motivation, the relationship between motivation and performance levels - Yerkes-Dodson's law. - Aspirations. Performance needs and school, school performance motivation. - Learning motivation of students. - Problems with the motivation of children and pupils (frustration of needs, boredom, fear, excessive motivation).
