Course content
|
1. Basic ideas about the world around us - from the cosmic to the subatomic scale. 2. Physical quantities and their units, vector calculus. 3. Kinematics, classification of motions, use of derivatives. 4. Newton's laws of motion, the concept of force, the principle of superposition. 5. Conservation laws: energy and momentum. 6. Mechanics of a rigid body: force couples, moment of force, center of gravity, stability 7. Fluid mechanics: pressure in liquids and gases, Archimedes' law, fluid flow. 8. Mechanical oscilations: kinematics, dynamics, energy of oscillating motion; undamped and damped oscillations. 9. Mechanical waves, sound, Doppler effect. 10. Electrostatic field. 11. Electric current in conductors. 12. Electrical circuit. 13. Magnetic field and materials. 14. Electromagnetic field.
