- Principles of oxidative degradation of polymers. Basic antioxidant mechanisms (H-donors, hydroperoxide decomposers, alkyl radical scavengers, metal deactivator, multifuncional stabilizers). - Photodegradation of polymers. Mechanisms of UV stabilization (UV absorption, quenching, hydroperoxide decomposition, free radical scavenging, stabilization mechanisms of HALS). - Thermal degradation and stabilization of selected polymers. - Mechanisms of PVC degradation (dehydrochlorination in absence of air, thermal oxidative degradation of PVC). - Pyrolysis of polymers. - Mechanism of hydrolysis of polymers. - Basic principles of polymer degradation by acids. Action of acid scavengers. - Degradation proces in processing of polymers (melt fracture, coating mechanisms). Mechanisms of processing aid action. - Mechanisms of polymer degradation by flame. Flame retardant mechanisms.
