Course content
1. European modern culture (early modern period): renaissance - humanism, renaissance in Italy (quattrocento, cinquecento, late renaissance, mannerism), anthropocentrism of culture. 2. Renaissance outside Italy - Renaissance in Holland, Germany and the countries of the Alps; the influence of the bourgeoisie on the development cultural change. 3. European modern culture (mature modernity): the Baroque - an epoch in the development of European society. Baroque style in Italy. 4. The manifestations of the Baroque style in the countries of Europe; Rococo. 5. European modern culture (the most recent period): classicism - the continuation of the ideals of the Renaissance building on proven and established traditional models and practices; Enlightenment - Enlightenment Classicism. Empire. 6. The end of the era of unified styles: Romanticism - one of the last great European artistic styles affecting all walks of life; individualism, subjectivism and modernism. 7. Realism as a protest against human conventions, the reverberation of holistic artistic styles in Europe and the preconditions for the development of modern art. 8. European Modern Art I: Modernism (period of the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century) - Impressionism and its roots. 9. Post-Impressionism and Neo-Impressionism - the turn of the century and its reflection in cultural concepts. 10. Art Nouveau - the last artistic style that managed to imprint its artistic features on all manifestations of modern life, creating the fashion and lifestyle of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 11. Cultural and artistic movements of the first half of the 20th century: avant-garde art - a stage in the development of modern art presenting the last developmental phase of modern art in continuity with anti- traditionalism and social revolt of modernism. 12. The most significant currents, movements and directions of the avant-garde. 13. Preparation of the society of the second half of the 20th century for the transition to postmodern art.
