1. Introduction, methodology, literature. 2. Development of art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. 3. Expressionist groups. Die Brücke, Emil Nolde. Der Blaue Reiter. Wassily Kandinsky, his origins, activities, path to abstraction. 4. Art in Bohemia in 1907-1917 (Osma, SVU, Sursum, SVU Mánes). 5. Fauvism. Henri Matisse painter and sculptor, Maurice Vlaminck and André Derain. Orphism. 6. Excursions / galleries 7. Cubism. Pablo Picasso and his further development, Georges Braque, Juan Gris and Fernand Léger. 8. Neoplasticism - Piet Mondrian. De Stijl and Theo van Doesburg. 9. Kazimir Malevich and Suprematism. Constructivism. Alexander Rodchenko - painting, spatial constructions, applied art, El Lissitzki. Vladimir Tatlin - spatial realizations, projects, their acclaim. 10. Dadaism; focal points of Dada; manifestos; new techniques and genres; Marcel Duchamp. 11. Bauhaus - origins and development, personalities, principles of teaching, role of free art, design, typography, photography. 12. Surrealism. 13. Czechoslovak art in the 1930s. + Excursion to the gallery.
