Course content
1. Principles for the preparation of documents for the assignment of the final thesis; recommended outline for the preparation of the final thesis (research on the topic of the thesis, analysis for the processing of the topic, variant solution proposals, the procedure for the processing of the selected variant solution). 2. Creative work in writing texts (the aim and purpose of the work, the method of writing the work, the scope of the final work and its final assignment, and the principles of selecting the topic). 3. Creative work with sources in the theoretical part of the final thesis, the procedure of how to work with sources creatively, and recommendations on how to reflect one's own view in the text of the final thesis. 4. Creative analytical work and analysis methods (textual analysis, compilation (compendium), comparative analysis, historical method - working with primary sources); qualitative research, characteristics for a professional essay. 5. Structure of the thesis, introduction (principles and meaning of the introduction, research questions and hypotheses); main part of the thesis (theoretical part, practical part); conclusion (principles, meaning, stylistics). 6. Style of writing a professional thesis (subjective and objective style, impersonal wording, author's singular and plural, narrative vs. professional thesis); target thesis audience. 7. What literature to use (unproblematic sources, somewhat problematic sources, and very problematic sources), how to select sources and quality of sources; interim notes on sourcing in the text, recommended practice for writing a theoretical paper. 8. Quotation and paraphrase; quotation from a foreign language; use of foreign words in Czech and Slovak text. 9. Inventory of sources and references to sources in the text; references to sources in the text (Harvard system, i.e., Name-Date form, method of numbering references, footnote method); citation of pictures and photographs. 10. How to write and structure a reference list and list of figures used; the purpose and structure of the list of appendices to the thesis; presentation and defense of the thesis.
