Course content
The primary goal of the course is to provide the student with an interpretation of the development of art history from the 1990s to the present. The course emphasizes the opportunity to perceive personal creative performance that develops the ability to interpret one's own work as a result of the seminar. The graduate of the course should be able to point out key moments in the process and ultimately place it in a broader sociocultural context. The course should form a parallel lineage with contemporary Euro-American art that draws on neo-conceptual approaches and postmodernism. Students will study art history, as a means of formulating their own expression and stance towards understanding and examining cultural, historical, social contexts. They will also trace the development of art at some institutionally established universities. The range of individual work will be determined by the nature of each genre, from 1 NS to 10 NS. Texts will be evaluated by the instructor for both spelling and stylistic aspects, including formal editing, citations, footnotes, etc.
