Course content
An overview of visual culture from the early Middle Ages to the end of the 19th century. Surviving cultural monuments will be presented in the context of their contemporary visual communication and ritual role. Students will also be introduced to the historiography and various ways of studying and interpreting visual culture, as well as important figures in the discipline.
