Course content
Subject content: 1. High and Late Middle Ages, characteristics, periodization 2. Features of women's and men's clothing in the High Middle Ages 3. Composition of male clothing in the High and Late Middle Ages, nomenclature 4. Composition of women's clothing in the High and Late Middle Ages, nomenclature 5. Pattern construction, technology, textile materials - fabrics and knits, non-textile materials. 6. Patterning of textile materials, development of textile pattern 7. Centres of fabric production in Europe in the Middle Ages and early Renaissance 8. Surviving medieval garments and their fragments in Europe 9. Surviving medieval textile finds in Bohemia 10. Signs of late medieval clothing, Burgundian clothing of the 15th century. 11. Late medieval signs in clothing and the onset of the early modern period in Europe.
