Course content
|
1. Laboratory safety, organization and teaching plan. 2. Fasteners and components. Visit to a supplier of fasteners and components. Introduction to the available range, applications and purchasing options. Practical demonstration of different types of fasteners and related tools. 3. Basic material handling and sewing practice. Introduction to the industrial sewing machine, its operation and basic adjustment. Practice of sewing, material handling, starting and finishing seams. Basic leatherworking techniques - cutting, punching, gluing, sewing, riveting and edge finishing. 4. Design and production of a key ring. Design and production of a simple leather product according to the student's own design. Template preparation, cutting and punching of parts, gluing, sewing, riveting and finishing. Practical application of basic joining and finishing techniques. The final product is intended for the student's own use. 5. Design and production of a one-piece wallet. Design and production of a functional product made from a single main piece. Preparation of the template, cutting and processing of leather, folding, shaping and joining. Practice of gluing, sewing, riveting and finishing techniques. Emphasis on understanding how a flat piece can be transformed into a functional three-dimensional product. 6. Design and production of a tool pouch. Independent design and production of a tool pouch for use in the workshop. Preparation of the pattern and material, cutting and punching of parts, accurate positioning and joining, sewing, riveting, gluing and edge finishing. Application and development of skills acquired in previous assignments. 7. Connection with the Pattern Making course - processing of a footwear pattern. Practical application of knowledge acquired in the Pattern Making course. Preparation and cutting of individual parts of a pump shoe pattern according to the prepared templates. Introduction to correct cutting techniques, material orientation and preparation of parts for further processing. 8. Assembly and lasting of the pump shoe upper. Processing and joining of individual parts, following the correct technological sequence, upper assembly, adjustment and finishing of parts and edges. Practical demonstration and training in lasting the upper on a last. Completion of the finished half-pair.
