Course content
|
The first semester of the course provides a comprehensive introduction to sustainable cultural production and gradually develops students' knowledge across five modules. It begins with key concepts such as the Green Deal, sustainability, ecological footprint and the cultural and creative industries while explaining the role of the European Green Deal, the SDG 2030 framework and cultural institutions as agents of change. The second module focuses on institutional strategies, environmental impacts and methods of measuring them for example through Julie's Bicycle tools. The third module strengthens practical skills in circular design, upcycling, ecological communication and sustainable project management, demonstrating how small adjustments can significantly reduce ecological footprint. The fourth module uses excursions and case studies from places such as Rock for People, Tate Modern or the Happy Museum Project as inspiration for atelier projects. The final module connects research and practice through participatory research, sustainability data and evaluation, encouraging critical reflection and the development of final projects based on evidence and sustainable approaches.
