Course content
1. Glass its material nature, definition of glass. The sequence of the individual technological stages applied throughout the technological process in the production of glass. 2. Mechanical properties of glass (strength, hardness and brittleness) and the possibility of influencing them. 3. Thermal properties of glass (thermal expansion, thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity) 4. Optical properties of glass, chemical properties of glass, electrical properties of glass. 5. Properties of molten glass - viscosity. 6. Surface tension, density, crystallisation ability. 7. glass embedment, its preparation and foundation, glass raw materials general requirements and their distribution. 8. Basic information on the glass melting process and its stages. 9. Main principles and methods of glass forming, hand forming. 10. Metallurgical moulding. 11. Procedures of primary processing of products (peeling, grinding, polishing). 12. Procedures for the initial treatment of products (firing, annealing, fire polishing). 13. procedures for the initial treatment of the product (cutting and drilling of glass). Students will understand the practical implementation of some of the processes and will be introduced to their implementation on the shop floor.
