Course content
1. Renaissance glass in Europe and the Czech lands. 2. Rudolfine glass, early Baroque glassmaking. 3. Baroque glass in Europe and the Czech lands. 4. Classical, Empire, and Second Rococo glass. 5. Glassmaking in the region - forest glassworks, glassworks of S. Reich & Co. 6. Glassmaking in the region - glassworks in Krásno, Karolinka, and glass production in the 20th century. 7. Glass of the Historicism period. Students will gain an understanding of the artistic development of modern glass, recognize the most famous glassmaking techniques, and learn about the area and period of their origin. They will have an overview of the development of basic shapes of utility glass and will be able to correctly name the individual types and parts of utility (especially beverage) glass. Students will learn about the work of the most important figures in modern European glassmaking and 19th-century glassmaking.
