Course content
Education is primarily focused on the feature film and feature TV production, but differences between producer's and production manager's responsibilities in documentary and animated films are pointed out together with different TV formats, advertising and the Internet platforms. Specifics between a public and private TV broadcasting will be discussed as well as types of productions and yearly budgeting. During the semester students will learn about the authorship contracts, non-authorship contracts, they will explore the realisation process, set up a budget, and prepare a shooting plan with an actual feature production. Basic themes: - specifics of public and private TV, types of production - selection of a project and a producer's plan - development of a screenplay and its presentation, differences in TV and film settings - cooperation with a director and other crew members during the project development - casting, location selection and further decisions in the shooting process and its preparation, securing authorship rights - editing, sound, music, VFX and other elements of postproduction, moving to distribution - financing in film and TV Practical exercises: - Producer's explication - essay on a selected topic from the study areas
