Course content

The course acquaints students with the basics of theoretical and practical aspects of editing. After introducing the topic of digital technologies, nonlinear editing programs and introducing editing workplaces, students work on assigned practical exercises. Topics: - What is the film editing? - Introduction to editing workplaces and rules. - The connection between the shots, the basics of the compositional rules. - Introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro. - When, how and why to cut? - Formats and general principles of compression. - Continuous editing. - Pacing and rhythm. Practical excercises: - Joint interdisciplinary exercise. - Linear connection between shots. - Tire exchange. - Technological exercise. - Temporythmic exercise. - Cutting as manipulation. - Practical editing exam. Workshops: - TV news. - Talking head editing. - Dancing sequence editing.
