Course content
Seminars - Current classification of diabetes mellitus, disease diagnosis - 1 hour - Léčby Principles of treatment, selfmanagement, selfmonitoring: SMBG, CGMS, computer programs - 1 hour - Diet and physical load of a person with diabetes - 1 hour. - Insulin treatment, insulin preparations, aids, insulin administration - 1 hour. - Acute complications, late complications of diabetes. Prevention of diabetes complications - 1 hour - Preparation of a nurse for client's education, educational programs, methods, aids, modern ways of education - 1 hour - Psychosocial problems of diabetics and their relatives - 1 hour. Practical seminars - Practice in handling aids- insulin pens, pumps, glucometers, CGMS, food preparation - counting carbohydrate units - 4. - Demonstration of the patient directly in class or in clinical practice (internship) etc. - 3 hours
