Course content
Lectures: - Definition of basic nursing terminology. Aim of Nursing and characteristics of modern nursing Nursing as art and science. Position of nursing in the system of sciences - 1 hour. - Development of nursing and nursing education in the Czech Republic and abroad, history - 1 hour. - Concept of Czech nursing (general characteristics and legal norms). Legislative regulations and standards relating to the qualification of non-medical health workers and the practice of the nursing profession. Regulation of the medical profession - 2 hours. - Nursing education. Accreditation of educational programs. National Institute of Healthcare Quality and Excellence (NIKEZ). National register of healthcare workers - 1 hour. - The position and function of nurses in the system of health and preventive care. Professional national and international nursing organizations, their content and importance for the development of nursing and for the development of the profession - 1 hour. - Classification systems in nursing. Use of classification systems in practice (NANDA, NIC, NOC, OMAHA, ICNP...) - 1 hour. - Conceptual models, theories, concepts of conceptual models, their comparison with a focus on their specifdics in clinical practice. Traditional model of nursing care. The best-known conceptual models and theories in nursing, their characteristics - 1 hour. - The philosophy of multiculturalism. Definition of the basic concepts of multiculturalism. Foreigners in the Czech Republic. Basic premises of multicultural nursing care. Culture shock, the phase of culture shock, its impact on human health and on the nursing care provided - 1 hour. - Culturally specific models used in transcultural nursing (e.g. Madeleine Leininger's model. Joyce Newman Giger and Ruth Elaine Davidhizar's model. Josepha Campinha-Bacote's model). Multicultural dialogue. Communication cards for patients, foreigners and health professionals (Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic) - 1 hour. Seminars: - Important personalities of nursing and nursing education - 1 hour. - Concept of nursing 2021. Qualification standard General nurse. National Standardized Operating Protocols (NSOP), nursing procedures for non-medical healthcare workers 1 - hour. - Specialization education, lifelong education in nursing - 1 hour. - Nurse competence, teamwork and responsibility in providing nursing care - 1 hour. - Florence Nightingalová and her concept of nursing care - 1 hour. - Model of basic nursing care by Virginia Henderson, model of functioning health by M. Gordon and their use in practice. Dorothea Oremová and the self-care deficit theory, Roperová, Loganová, Tierney's model of daily activities and their use in practice - 1 hour. - Peculiarities of nursing care for a client of a different culture (different nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, etc.), peculiarities of communication. Application of culturally specific models used in transcultural nursing. Minorities in the Czech Republic. Specifics of nursing care for Roma patients - 1 hour. - Cultural differences of the peoples of the former Soviet Union, of Asian nations, including Vietnamese ethnicity and a Muslim client - 1 hour. - News and current information in nursing - 1 hour. Non-contact hours (self-study): approx. 40 hours.
