Course content
Lectures - Antique philosophy. Medieval philosophy: Descartes, Spinoza - 3 hours - Philosophy of modern history: Immanuel Kant. Philosophy of 20th century and representatives of existentialism, phenomenology, hermeneutics and their contributions to nursing - 3 hours - Socrates and his hermeneutics. Plato's allegory of the cave. Epicurus. Hippocrates and his ethical legacy - 3 hours - Philosophy of paradigm (Thomas Khun0. Biotic conventions. Philosophy of holism - 3 hours - Sources of the ethics. Subject, tasks, aims of ethics in nursing. Basic ethical principles in nursing - 3 hours - Dignity of man and its ethical dimension. Individual components of man dignity and their ethical dimensions - 3 hours - Ethical codes- 2 hours Seminars - Philosophy of dying. Ethical aspects of nursing for the dying and death. Charter of the right of the dying. Ethical code of oncological patients - 2 hours - Philosophy and ethics of palliative care. Ethical codes in relation to palliative care. Ethical aspects of oncological patient/client, case studies. Ethical aspects of hospice care - current issues - 2 hours - Euthanasia - 2 hours - Process of development of the patients' rights - 2 hours - Ethical aspects of child care. Declaration of rights of the child. The rights of a hospitalized child. Ethical aspects of listening and empathy - 2 hours
