Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Radiology as a medical field. Physical principles of imaging methods. Conventional radiodiagnostics (skiascopy, skiagraphy). 2. Ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging. Basic protocols for ultrasound examinations in emergency medicine - BLUE, FAST, eFAST. 3. Computed tomography. Angiography, interventional radiology. 4. Evaluation of X-ray images and CT examinations. 5. Basics of nuclear medicine, radiopharmaceuticals. Static, dynamic, and whole-body scintigraphic examinations. 6. History and principles of radiation protection. Biological effects of ionising radiation from the perspective of radiation protection. 7. Legislation and organisation of radiation protection in the Czech Republic. Protection when working with ionising radiation sources. Seminar topics: 1. Emergency radiology. Ultrasound examination of the lungs, heart, and trauma in case studies. 2. Cannulation under ultrasound guidance. Structured evaluation of basic X-ray images. 3. Structured evaluation of CT scans. Preparing patients for radiological examinations. 4. Contrast agents, reactions to their administration, and treatment of allergic reactions. 5. Interventional radiology. Principles of radionuclide examinations, PET/CT. 6. Principles of patient protection against ionising radiation and their application in practice. 7. Radiation protection of workers in radiodiagnostics.
