Course content
Seminar topics: 1. Basic resuscitation - basic vital functions, their disorders, calling for professional help, communicating with the operations centre; procedure after the arrival of professional help. 2. Basic resuscitation of adults - examination of an unconscious person, checking vital functions, airway patency, monitoring the condition of the person, recording information. 3. Basic resuscitation - resuscitation of children. 4. Use of AED during CPR and external defibrillation. 5. Shock and shock conditions - classification of shock conditions, anti-shock measures. 6. Basics of bandaging techniques, emergency first aid for bleeding. 7. First aid for thermal trauma, electrical injuries, chemical trauma. 8. First aid for musculoskeletal injuries - sprains, dislocations, fractures (open and closed), immobilisation, handling the injured person, improvised transport. 9. Bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary; external, internal), stopping bleeding. 10. Model situations: sudden non-traumatic disorders of consciousness (vasovagal syncope, arrhythmia, urgent conditions in diabetes hypo/hyperglycemia, convulsive states - epilepsy, febrile seizures; intoxication). 11. First aid for selected non-traumatic emergency conditions. 12. Measuring basic physiological functions; medications used in home care. 13. Procedures for multiple casualties, CBRN, transport techniques. 14. Review.

- assess the situations and perform basic examinations of the injured person, check the basic vital functions of the injured person, recognise symptoms that indicate a serious health problem; - recognise the symptoms of various internal injuries, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest recommended procedures; - use bandaging techniques to treat wounds and stop bleeding; - use immobilisation techniques for joint and bone injuries; - position and prepare the injured person for transport; - recognise the symptoms of impending shock and perform anti-shock measures.
