|
Lectures - Introduction to palliative medicine, general and specialized palliative care, early and end of life care. The role of palliative medicine in hospital, follow-up, home and hospice care. Early integration of palliative care. Palliative care management in the Czech Republic and worldwide. - Specifics of palliative care in clinical fields. Possibilities of home and hospice care, pain outpatient clinic and palliative medicine outpatient clinic. Cooperation with a multidisciplinary team and its competences. - Symptoms of advanced disease. Identification of problems and needs of the client according to the place of care provision. - Management of pain and other physical symptoms. - Management of the most common psychological symptoms and syndromes. - Basic principles of identifying a patient in need of palliative care, creating a care plan. - Comprehensive, active and quality of life-oriented care for patients with incurable diseases. - Oncology therapy - curative, palliative oncology therapy. - Surgical procedures in oncosurgery, with regard to curative, radical and palliative treatment. Perioperative management in oncosurgery, invasive procedures improving the quality of life. - Neurological palliative care. Seminars - Basic indications for non-pharmacological procedures and rules for prescribing drugs (opioids, antidepressants, antipsychotics, etc.) in the treatment of patients in palliative care. - Cardiovascular and respiratory symptoms and their management. Management of effusions. - Urogynecological and GIT problems in palliative treatment. Disorders and problems with emptying, stomas. - Skin manifestations in patients in palliative care, lymphedema. - Rehabilitation in palliative care. - Ethical, communication and legal aspects of palliative care. - The role of a social worker. Social benefits helping people who have found themselves in a difficult life situation. - Thanatology. Care for a dying patient and their loved ones. - Solving model situations of patients with chronic pain. - Solving model situations of patients with other symptoms and syndromes in palliative care (problems of fever, nausea and vomiting, nutritional and hydration disorders in palliative care, oral care, incontinence, malignant effusions, etc. - Solving anorexia and hydration disorders in patients in the terminal phase of illness. - Demonstration and analysis of sample case studies of patients in palliative care.
