Course content
|
Lectures - Specialized nursing care for clients with neurological diseases in a healthcare facility and in home care (e.g. with brain and spinal tumors, brain and spinal injuries, stroke, inflammatory brain disease, epileptic syndromes, degenerative diseases, demyelinating diseases, extrapyramidal diseases and neuromuscular diseases, communication and swallowing disorders, etc.). - Assessment of the patient's condition, changes in his experience and behavior. Monitoring the occurrence of psychological problems. Coping with a difficult life situation by the patient and his family. Factors influencing adaptation and assessment of psychosocial needs. Shared decision-making about treatment. - Assessment, measurement and evaluation scales in neurological and psychiatric nursing (consciousness, pain, self-care, mobility, risk of falls, nutrition, etc.). Physical examination by a nurse, assessment of current health status, mapping of needs, risk assessment, planning of nursing interventions, education, prevention, documentation management. - Diagnostic and therapeutic methods in neurology - the role and assistance of a nurse (neurological examination, tests in neurology, injections, lumbar puncture, examination of cerebrospinal fluid, EEG, EMG, ultrasound, examination of cortical function disorders, neuroimaging methods - CT, MR, PET, SPECT, etc.), education of patients and their loved ones. - Care of a client in home care - diagnostics, therapy and nursing procedures. Sampling of biological material. Prescribing medical devices. Seminars - Personality and its psychosocial needs (needs, self-reflection, identity, gender, attributional tendencies, conformism). Personality in a difficult life situation: anxiety and depressive disorders, suicidal behavior in adult patients. Depression and suicidal behavior, self-harm in childhood and adolescence. Depressive pseudodementia. Factors influencing the patient's psychological balance and well-being. Factitious disorder, simulation, stigmatization. Personality and its disorders (paranoid, schizoid, dissocial emotionally unstable, histrionic, anxious, dependent, narcissistic, aggressive, mixed and other personality disorders), beliefs and behavioral strategies in personality disorders. Psychological problems of patients. Training in first aid, intervention and education in epileptic seizures, stroke, hysteria, suicidal behavior, etc. in the home environment. - Training in specialized nursing care for clients with degenerative, demyelinating diseases, in the use of compensatory medical devices, communication with an aggressive individual, with a client with psychological problems, etc. - Monitoring the occurrence of psychological problems. Managing fear and anxiety. Relaxation training. Coping strategies. Activation of patients. - Sharing good practice. Current trends. Case studies from practice.
