Course content
|
Lectures - Definition of wound, types of non-healing wounds according to etiology. Anatomical, physiological and pathological basis of the wound healing process. Etiopathogenesis of wounds, erosions and lesions and their prevention. Factors influencing wound healing, exudative, proliferative and differentiation wound healing. - Systematic assessment of a patient (regardless of age) with a wound. Classification of surgical and non-healing wounds (using assessment scales). Local characteristics of the wound, assessment of the wound in terms of origin, extent, depth, size, edges and wound bed, nature of exudation, location and age of the wound, wound colonization by pathogens. Assessment tools. Recommended classifications for wound assessment, wound bed, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome, infectious wounds, etc. New aspects, research and legislation in the field of wound therapy and care. Quality of life with a non-healing wound. - Specialized nursing care for patients with impaired skin and tissue integrity, Principles of non-healing wound care (wound bed sanitation, wound healing support), appropriate choice of covering materials. Management of wound treatment and care, wound symptom management, TIME management, holistic approach to wound treatment. Recommended procedures for the care of non-healing wounds, EPUAP (European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel), NPUAP (National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel), EWMA (European Wound Management Association), WUWHS (World Union for Wound Healing). - Special dressing materials, aids and devices for the treatment of non-healing wounds and their use. Competence of a nurse in wound dressing. Recording of non-healing wounds in nursing documentation, patient education. - Stoma. Anatomical and physiological differences. Types of stomas, classification of stomas (according to duration, location, construction - shape), most common indications in adults and children. Seminars - Nutritional stomas on the GIT: gastrostomy, jejunostomy, most common indications, treatment, complications, choice and replacement of gastrostomy/jejunostomy catheter/catheter/tube, nutrition administration. - Diversion stomas on the respiratory system: tracheostomy, most common indications, treatment, complications, choice and replacement of tracheostomy cannula, treatment of the environment, suctioning, ensuring sufficient humidity of the inhaled air. - Urine diversion and urostomy, nephrostomy, epicystostomy, ureterostomy, vesicostomy, most common indications, treatment, complications. Permanent catheterization, clean intermittent catheterization, etc. - Stomas on the digestive system (GIT): esophagostomy, ileostomy, colostomy, cecostomy, transversostomy, sigmoidostomy, most common indications, treatment, complications. Exercises - Dressing trolley, aseptic wound dressing, wound swab. - Wound assessment (including physical examination and assessment of current health status). Use of objective scales. Skin examination, education. - Sharing examples of good practice. Current trends. Supportive therapy in wound healing. The importance of nutrition and hydration in the treatment of non-healing wounds. Physical activity. - Surgical wound dehiscence. Debridement. Maggot therapy. Negative pressure wound therapy in practice - incl. case reports. - Special treatment of pressure ulcers, diabetic feet, oncological wounds - recommended treatment procedures, case reports, demonstrations and exercises on a model. - Stoma. - Specialized nursing care for patients with tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy, urostomy including practical training in the selection of treatment aids and establishing an educational plan. Internship - Mandatory 3-day (24 h) internship at a workplace approved by the course guarantor, dedicated to wound healing/defects and stomas in the GIT. - Mandatory 2-day (16 h) internship at a workplace approved by the course guarantor, dedicated to urostomy, tracheostomy care.
