Course content
- Culture (characteristics of culture, cultural patterns, differences between collective and individualistic culture). - Cultural dimensions and standards (Hofstede, Hall). - Verbal and non-verbal communication, expression of emotions - comparison at the intercultural level. - Obstacles in intercultural communication (stereotypes, prejudices, ethnofaulism, ethnocentrism, cultural relativism). -- National and ethnic stereotypes. - Autostereotypes of Czechs and stereotypes of foreigners about Czechs. - Psychological problems of acculturation and adaptation. Culture shock. - The importance of language in intercultural communication. Sapir - Whorf hypothesis. - Application of intercultural communication in school education. - Intercultural counseling in the work of a social educator.
