Lecturer content - Overview of the approach to translation. - The historical development of translation and the discipline of translation studies. - The phases of a translation, multivariate factor model. - Types of translation. - Functional and communicative equivalence. - Translation problems, the significance and meaning of linguistic environments. - Functional styles. - Glossaries, dictionaries, databases,computer supported translations, AI. - Literary translations. - Interpreting. - Course Credit Test. Seminar: Translation In line with the focus of the study programme, current texts will be translated from the following thematic areas: - economics - public administration - marketing and advertising (with a focus on marketing) - marketing and advertising (with a focus on advertising texts and slogans) - corporate communication - management and business leadership - law (contracts, general terms and conditions) - finance in general - profit and loss statement, balance sheet (terminology) - psychology in business leadership - company press release (various topics) - final student presentation
