        Course outline: 1. Individual versus social pedagogy? Idealistic-philosophical and biological-evolutionary justification of social pedagogy as a general pedagogical theory: opening the question of the epistemological, value and civic-political dimension of social pedagogy (Mager, Natorp, Bergemann, Ortega, Radlinská).  2. Social pedagogy as a theory and practice of life assistance to children and youth: Formation of a holistic paradigm of social-pedagogical work (Pestalozzi, Bosco, Bäumerová, Nohl, Böhnisch, Specht, Eichsteller, Holthoff).  3. Critical paradigm of social pedagogy, human rights and social pedagogy: From the reactive model of social pedagogy to critical hermeneutics, pedagogy of liberation and orientation to life situations - (Mollenhauer, Freire, Thiersch, Schugurensky, Hämäläinen, Specht, Böhnisch).  4. Reflexive, transversal and interdisciplinary dimensions of social pedagogy; the problem of multiparadigmality and the search for a common core (Nohl, Thiersch, Hämäläinen, Caride, Úcar, Marynowicz-Hetka). 5. Development of relations between social pedagogy and social work (Baumerová, Nohl, Mollenhauer, Bohnisch, Thiersh, Papenkort), adoption of a socio-pedagogical approach in contemporary social work (Germany - Mollenhauer, Bohnisch, Thiersch; Finland - Hamalainen; Russia - Romm; Great Britain - Petrie, Morgan; Czech Republic - Navrátil and Navrátilová; Poland - Marynowicz-Hetka).
