Course content
Content of the lessons is arranged according to Units 7, 8, 9 in Open Mind Advanced textbook. Students read and present vocational texts from their study specializations. Grammar: - Time clauses, cause-effect clauses - Inverted conditionals - Subjunctive and its alternatives - Selected negative prefixes and suffixes for adjectives - Adjective phrases Improving writing skills in selected writing styles: interpreting charts, writing a review and a short article. Selected conversational topics: - Shopping and sustainability - Graffiti, surrealism and meaning in art - How children play, game and its role in child development The result of a subject examination is expressed on a six-point scale: A "výborně" (i.e. "excellent"), B "velmi dobře" (i.e. "very good"), C "dobře" (i.e. "good"), D "uspokojivě" (i.e. "satisfactory"), E "dostatečně" (i.e. "sufficient"), F "nedostatečně" (i.e. "fail").

After the course students have ability to: - Deepen their ways to communicate fluently, in terms of appropriacy, sensitivity and the capacity to deal with unfamiliar topics at language level C1 according to CEFR 2020 - Understand longer formal texts and recognize their implicit meaning - Express themselves promptly without hesitation and longer searching for verbal expressions - Describe data provided in a graph or table - Produce clear, well-structured text such as a short article review - Prove a controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices
