Course content
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic approaches to the operational activities of manufacturing and non-manufacturing enterprises and methods of managing production and support processes. Furthermore, basic orientation in the product portfolio of companies, legislative requirements for operating processes and products, and requirements for product quality. Students will also learn about the practical application of selected approaches and methods and orientation to modern production and inventory management methods. The intention is realized through familiarization with progressive methods and information systems of production management of industrial enterprises, including familiarization with the necessary knowledge in the field of technical preparation of production, innovation of production programs and organization of production systems. Main Topics Product and operational management. The essence and goals of Operational management, links to strategic (tactical) management and other areas of management. Typology of production processes, subject and technological organization of workplaces. Process flows. Management of products and services. Information sources for production and service management, the importance of standardization, the normative base of the company. Material consumption standards, usable time fund, living labor consumption standards, capacity standards. Types of workplace layout, production management. Standardization and technical standardization, starting points of standardization, standardization, modularity of the production process. Pre-production stage of the product. Innovation activity, product design, technology design. Operational production management. Operational plan, capacity planning, technological aspects and variants of production processes. Specifics of operational processes in services. The human factor in operational activities. Support processes. Facility management. Ensuring the operability of machines and equipment, maintenance systems, TPM. Quality management in operational activities, measurement of product and process quality, principles of Kaizen and Six Sigma. Legislative requirements for operational activities. Objectives of Operational management, boundaries of the operational system, position and role of the operational manager in TOP management.
