Course content
The course is primarily focused on the development and management of business information systems, their position in business development and management of key busienss processes. Students will be acquainted with the methods of defining enterprise information strategy and enterprise information pyramid, architecture and classification of enterprise economic information systems - Enterprise Resources Planning Information System (ERP I, ERP II) and current trends of their development. Emphasis is placed on the vertical integration of ERP I/ ERP II information systems (TPS - Transaction Processing System, DW - Data Warehouse, MIS - Managerial Information System, EIS - Executive Information System, BI - Business Intelligence), horizontal integration (APS/ SCM/ CRM), application of evaluation and selection methods of ERP I, ERP II, also methods and procedures for implementation and practical application of ERP I, ERP II and management and evaluation of information system efficiency including its outsourcing. Part of the course is also the solution of practical case studies with the aim to develop basic knowledge regarding the management of key IS / IT projects (implementation of ERP systems, building data warehouses, etc.). Course contents: 1. Introduction to the subject, basic characteristics and typology of enterprise information systems. 2. Information processes of business economics management. Basic structure of business process management information processes and related business processes. 3. Measurement and information evidence of economic and business processes. Key economic and management tools and models and their application in enterprise information concepts - KPI (Key Performance Indicators). 4. Business information concept, structure of enterprise information pyramid and its vertical and horizontal integration. 5. Vertical Integration of Enterprise Information Support - ERP I. (Enterprise Resource Planning)/ ERP II.: TPS - Transaction Processing System, DW - Data Warehouse, MIS - Managerial Information System, EIS - Executive Information System, BI - Business Intelligence, AI - Artificial Intelligence (Expert Systems). 6. Horizontal integration of enterprise information support: APS - Automated Production Systems/ SCM - Supply Chain Management/ CRM - Customer Relationship Management. 7. ERP I. - Modularity of ERP. Planning and analytical processes of management of the key economic and business processes (sales and marketing, production, logistics, finance, human resources and personnel agenda, administration and other supporting processes). Selected ERP I. used in business practice. 8. ERP II. - The role, structure and content of managerial and executive information support. DW - Data Warehouse, MIS - Managerial Information System, EIS - Executive Information System, BI - Business Intelligence. 9. ERP II. - Alternative technological solutions in management information support and Business Intelligence. DW - Data Warehouse, SQL database, OLAP - On Line Analytical Processing, MS Excel and its functionality for managerial information support and Business Intelligence, Cloud computing, Data Mining, Big Data. 10. Business Intelligence - planning and analytical processes and its information support in marketing and sales performance. E-commerce. Planning and analytical processes and their information support in the area of human resources and personnel agenda, purchasing, storage, distribution and logistics. 11. Business Intelligence - Planning and analytical processes and their information support in the field of business performance management (products, services, orders), costs and profit analysis.
