1. Basic terminology, history of computer networks, network types. 2. Physical communication media - coaxial cable, twisted pair. 3. Fiber optic and their basic parameters. 4. Wireless communication - WLAN, IEEE 802.11, Wi-Fi, licensed and non-licensed bands, general license, standards, security, architecture, antennas, radiation patterns, Fresnel zone. 5. Baseband and broadband communication. 6. Physical topologies - bus, star, tree, ring, backbone and mesh. Logical topologies, 7. Network access methods, OSI model. 8. IEEE 802 standards, PDU acknowledgement, network protocols IPX/SPX, NetBEUI and TCP/IP. 9. TCP/IP - history, structure, IPv4 addressing, private addresses, broadcasting. 10. Subnet mask, CIDR prefix, subnetting, IPv6 basics. TCP/IP - port, socket, multiplexing. 11. Computer network interconnecting - collision domain, broadcast domain, repeater, hub. 12. Bridge, switch, router, gateway. Comparison with OSI model. 13. Ethernet networks - main parameters, history, frames, collisions, network parts, 10Mb/s, 100Mb/s, 1Gb/s, 10Gb/s, 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s. 14. BaseT version. Internet - history, features, addressing.
