Course content
- Introduction to GIS, basic terminology and GIS definition, related fields - GIS GeoMedia as representantive of professional geogephical systems - Application fields, basic tasks coved by GIS - Geographical objects, basic topological terms - Data used by GIS, their classification and archiving methods - Coordinate systems and basic transformations of geographical data - Vector representation of geographical data, vector data models - Grid representation of geographical data - Sources of geographical data - Adjustment of input geographical data before its archiving, acquirement of topologically clean data - Basic analysis in GIS, their classification and method of their application - Phases of GIS life cycle - Modern trends in GIS development and usage
